Ms Addie Pants is a dog who is Annie’s pet and wants to teach Addie about best friends. First lesson is eating from Gus the cat’s food and Annie teaches the concept of kindness and asking permission for such an act. Addie goes for a walk and dashes into the house to share the experience with Gus – without watching wiping his feet. Another lesson. When young Eric comes to visit Addie jumps with joy ONTO Eric – another lesson to be courteous. Again she makes a mistake – running with Gracie’s pull-toy and learns the lesson of sharing. Finally relaxing after a learning day Addie is bothered by Chester the bird and is trying to play with the bird Addie hurts Chester – and apologizes tearfully. Addie is afraid she will be turned out because of all her blunders, but the entire family gathers round to reassure Addie she is loved – and the family decides Addie could go to dog school!
And that is where we leave Addie and her family and friends – ready to go off to dog school – and that is the next adventure book in this series. Wendy writes well, being supportive on every page while allowing children to learn about good behavior in a most congenial way. This is bound to be a very successful series of books by a charming author and illustrator.
Poor Addie! Arriving at her new home after being left by the side of the road in a box, traveling on a plane to a new area, being kept at the Humane Society for Four Days, and enduring the ordeal of coming home after the ice storm, she is so excited to finally have a home and new friends that she keeps getting in trouble. She eats the cat’s food and tracks snow all over the house after her walk. And it just keeps getting worse.
Annie patiently tries to explain to her about sharing, taking turns, and calming down. And Addie tries really hard. But she is so enthusiastic about meeting new friends that she just keeps going too far, even though she knows she is messing up. Finally, she starts to worry that she has done something so bad that she will wind up back in that box by the side of the road. How is she going to get out of this one?
Cute illustrations.
Thanks to the author for a free review copy of this book.
My grand daughter and I are getting to know Ms Addie's personality a little better with each story in THE ADVENTURES OF MS ADDIE PANTS series. In Book 3, we were sensitive to Ms Addie's fear of rejection while she learned some practical lessons but more importantly, she begin to learn and trust she is loved very much.
We enjoy her enthusiastic companionship with each new book in this series. The idea of basing these books on the actually adjustment of the author's own rescue dog is such a genuine and personal journal that she has chosen to share in this children's book format series. The illustrations are vivid, whimsical and fun. We look forward to the next Ms Addie adventure in several more months.
A new animal has been added to Annie's menagerie. Addie, the puppy, is trying to adapt to her new home but she keeps making mistakes. With each mistake she is sure she will be sent back to the box where no one loves her. This wonderful story by Wendy Van de Poll is a story about how being a friend doesn't depend on being perfect. Danilo Krlovic's beautiful illustrations were a wonderful addition to the story.
The adventures continue for Addie in “New Friends”. Now that Addie is finally at home with Annie, there are so many things to learn and Addie makes mistakes along the way. Addie is worried that all her mistakes mean that Annie won’t want her anymore. Another engaging story about Annie and Addie that your kids will love!
