Want to get rhythm? It's simple: learn to count the beat of music. But you need to count the easy way, like a dancer, not a musician. In this book you will learn:
A foolproof method for hearing the beat of music. How to count the sets of 8, also called the "8-count" or "dancer's 8." How to clap to music. How to identify a waltz. How to identify and count the structure of the music--the phrasing--and predict where the music is going. Plus, you'll start moving your body to music. You'll find more than 20 short, free, instructional videos at HearTheBeatFeelTheMusic.com--check them out now, no login or email required (but due to music copyright law, some may only be viewable in the United States).
Whether you workout to music, do dance fitness (aerobics, Zumba, etc.), partner dance, do dance choreography or just want to enjoy listening to music more, this book has the music theory instruction a beginner needs to groove to the beat.
Don't be wishy-washy around music. Learn how music works. Get rhythm now.
JAMES JOSEPH is an author and rhythm coach who helps people develop a deeper connection to music. He first cracked the code to music and dance in his 2010 book, Every Man's Survival Guide to Ballroom Dancing. He's on a mission to teach people how to hear the beat of music, discover their natural rhythm and begin moving to music.
This book is easy to read. Very useful with a lot of music examples. If you want to improve your Rhythm in a danse room or just know how to clap your hands, this simple book will be great!
This is concise. In a few chapters, using video clips of music, points are well illustrated and can be used for practice. As a dancer with no musical background, this helped me enorm, ously.
Simple and short book, but once really helped me to get more smoothly into social dancing via starting to feel and understand, and for sure enjoy much more music melodies and their rhythm.
