Impressive stuff. I can only imagine how astonishing the one-woman play must be.
Co-written between Scott Rankin & Leah Purcell, who performed the play. I found this book in my local 'free library' on the corner of my street. It came complete with a personal inscription from Purcell & a ticket to the 1999 performance at the Belvoir. A touching addition to such an intimate & powerful story.
Leah Purcell writes from her own experience, as an Aboriginal German girl, growing up in a country town where her career choices were nursing or the meat-works. Purcell chose acting, but she also chose women's rugby, boxing and working with horses. Scott Rankin has co-written a moving story of a very brave woman, dreaming of a foreign urban life of acting, singing and dancing. Purcell delivered this story very powerfully in the theatre, we should expect great things from her.
had to read for a uni class - would LOVE to see Leah perform in person...thought this was good...a little difficult to read in some places - but the spelling helps to understand the articulation, so no complaints.
