i liked this story about an elementary-aged girl on her way to primary school. it showcased Senegalese culture in a very accessible and organic way. reading this book inspired me to research the topics of Gorée Island, Wolof (language), and polygamy in Senegal further.
the only thing i did not like about the book was the ending as i felt it was somewhat abrupt.
illustrations were attractive and contributed positively to the story.
