British History, 1945-1987: An Annotated Bibliography

Rate this book
The aim of this bibliography is to delineate the existing literature covering postwar British history by its organization of the material, and to highlight principal facets, themes and events. The bibliography will have three main attributes. Firstly, by introducing, organizing and annotating the literature, it will itself constitute a history of the period. Secondly, in highlighting the themes and events of this period, it will draw attention to those areas which have been fully covered as well as those which have been neglected, or where the existing literature is, in some way, deficient. By illustrating the state of the literature, it will help to stimulate more research in the field of postwar history. Thirdly, the teaching of this period, will benefit from this bibliography which will provide easy-to-find reference material. The bibliography will contain brief historical introductions to the various sections in order to show how the literature fits together. In all, it will feature some 15,000 titles, including bibliographies, books, articles, parliamentary papers, official publications, theses and databases.
