Known as one of the O.G. independent authors of the 2010-2012 indie explosion, Brian D. Anderson gained massive popularity right out of the gate with his debut series, The Godling Chronicles. His follow-up series, Dragonvein, was just as popular, Book One becoming a Top Five Finalist on Audible.com for Fantasy Book of the Year in 2015 – becoming the very first independent to reach the finals. But Anderson was far from finished.
After co-authoring Akiri with Steven Savile (Warhammer, Pathfinder, Dr. Who, and Sherlock Holmes) Anderson became the first independent author in history to secure a six-figure audio only deal for his highly anticipated two-book sequel of The Godling Chronicles.
Anderson continued with his indie career with The Vale series. But even after twenty novels, he felt there was more to accomplish. So he secured a three-book deal with Tor Books for The Sorcerer’s Song series.
When not writing, Brian D. Anderson divides his time enjoying his friends and family at home in the sleepy little southern town of Fairhope, Alabama, and riding atop his Harley Davidson, dubbed The Mighty Puck, traveling the country from convention to convention, meeting fans and signing books.

I am not a gamer chick. I am able to keep Mario on his little kart, but that is the extent of my mad skills. I am the girl who plays the uber easy levels on Super Mario Bros, just to stock up on lives because we all know I’m going to die later on. It’s inevitable. Despite my epic noob status in the gamer world, this little novella sucked me in. As soon as Brittany – the cop / gamer girl – starts to have suspicions that she’s not in a game, but it’s actually real life? Wow! I love stories where you start to wonder is it real or virtual?

Back in December, I read Conquest by R.M. Mulder and was introduced to the Leviathan. So, naturally, when offered a chance to review a companion novella, I jumped on the chance. I love the concept of the characters being stuck in the game but not sure if it’s real or virtual. Very intriguing! I was sucked in right away and finished this in one sitting, despite sheer exhaustion. *wink* Needless to say, I am eager for the next installment 🙂

I had the pleasure of pre-ordering this book in advance. I was that excited as it would have authors that I loved and debuting new authors. Overall the stories were excellent and well written. All the stories were great and I hate to point one better than the others. My favorites were from Terry Spider, RM Mulder, Eden Redd, and debuting author Dimitri Knight. Would I order another box set from this cast, you bet! For the first effort, awesome effort and this is coming from a person who doesn't read box sets often.

The anthology has a few gems that are worth the buy and the 4 stars. Those gems are amazing, they are engaging and the worlds and characters are well constructed. I especially liked Stan Faryna and Richard Mulder's stories. And there are about 2 more that I enjoyed. The other stories were either meh or I couldn't go through. It seemed to me that some of the writers haven't played a game in a long time, since what they are describing seem to be more like imaginary worlds than actual games with mechanics, design and lore. But honestly, it deserves more than the 3€ I've payed.

"Why No one Likes You" by Stan Faryna was a twisty little tale - but it satisfied me. I really felt it caught the rhythm and the feel of gaming in a dystopic world.
