Eight year old Jade suffers a mental breakdown when her little dog is taken from her, but finds help from a most unusual source. A Medium Clairvoyant uses her special powers to locate Bonnie, but will their quest to rescue the little dog be in vain?

Much of this story is told from Bonnie's POV. Bonnie was once loved and cared for but finds herself in a puppy farm. Not knowing why, she tells readers about her experiences and how her kennel mates are treated. These scenes are harrowing to read and knowing that they happen in real life makes me angry.
Other parts of the story focus on Jade, the young girl who used to own Bonnie. Her concern and affection for her dog are evident. The extent to which losing the dog affected her, shocked me. Both Bonnie and Jade's plight could have been prevented or at least lessened if Jade's Dad, Brian, and Dr Saunders had had a heart. Both just thought of themselves and portrayed themselves as truly odious through their actions.
Through the pain and heartache ran some hope when Jade meets Liz. I found her part in the story interesting and very original. Although this is a dark read there are moments of happiness and joy that work well to give some relief. I think the author did a fantastic job of blending all the elements of the story together.
I hope this book brings the plight of dogs like Bonnie to people's attention and that it gets more widely read.

An important book
A thoroughly enjoyable adventure. Take a harrowing journey with Bonnie and be there as a little girl learns to control her telepathic abilities.
This book should be read by anyone who cares about animals, especially dog's.
Importantly it will make you question where you will buy your next puppy from.

Agatha Christie once said that the world would be a nicer place if everybody had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog ..And In A Little Dog's Prayer , Jan McCulloch has described such a dog in little Bonny ..Bonny lives a happy life with a loving family until the day her world comes apart ..when the man of the house gives her away to a 'puppy farmer'..Told through the eyes of the dog Bonny , and the little girl Jade who never stops loving her , what happens to Bonny is so cruel, sad and heartbreaking..For Jade the little girl who has watched over Bonny her whole life ..it is so much worse ,as she begins to close in on herself as no one can understand her sense of loss ..But sometimes in life there are Angel's who walk amongst us ..And as a little girl begins to turn a corner..you begin to see that dogs do speak to us but only to those who listen ..A beautifully crafted story ..Five stars and a little heart for Bonny ...

Marvellous, I thoroughly loved it! Although at the core of this novel there's the criminal activity of puppy farms, it also deals with the intimate connection between children and animals (metaphorically represented by the telepathic link). A lovely, touching piece of work, a book that should be read in schools.

Lovely read
A book to make you think about puppy farming and dogs feelings and the selfishness of humans .It brought tears to my eyes to begin with! I liked Liz's psychic involvement in it all.A great little book I will look forward to the next one by this author!
