Interesting to learn about the early history of the necklace, from Egyptian broad collars and Celtic gold torcs, to Greek and Roman chains and medallions. Primarily focused on design periods that can be easily collected today, 19th and 20th centuries are a central focus showcasing early 19th-century cameos, the Art Nouveau innovations of Lalique, turn-of-the-century diamond chokers, and long, graceful 1920s sautoirs. Book-ended by Renaissance pendants, and 17th century pearl necklaces on the early side, and the colorful and experimental plasic creations from the 1960s, you will have fun looking at the beautiful photos even if you can't tuck in for a long read.
