Lucius Morris Beebe was a journalist, writer, gourmand, photographer, and railroad historian.

Beebe attended both Harvard University and Yale University, where he worked on the campus newspaper, Harvard Crimson, and the humor magazine, The Yale Record. He received his B.A. from Harvard in 1926, and was expelled during graduate school.

While attending Harvard, Beebe published several books of poetry. He began his career as a journalist at the New York Herald Tribune, then worked at the San Francisco Examiner, the Boston Telegram, and the Boston Evening Transcript. He was also a contributing writer to magazines such as Gourmet, The New Yorker, Town and Country, Holiday, American Heritage, and Playboy. In 1952, he re-launched Nevada's first newspaper, the Territorial Enterprise.
