Farmer Joe hates mice! He hates them so much he figures this is the best time to get the mouser of his dreams, the hound dog he's always wanted!! Farmer Joe has a mouse problem on his hands, but he cannot get a cat, due to his wife's allergies. He decides to get a hound from the Animal Control. Farmer Joe adopts his first hound dog named Lug Nut. He called him a lazy hound, because he would not catch any mice. One night a couple weeks later Lug Nut woke Farmer Joe up to alert him the house is on fire. Farmer Joe said that Lug Nut earned his place with them. I loved this book, because the rescued hound dog rescued his rescuers.

This is a very sweet quick read about adopting a dog for a mouser but he turns out to be much more.I tired reading it to my 5yr old grandson but his attention span isn't very long so I finished it without him :). I will definitely read it to him when he's ready.

Short and Sweet

This book is just the right read for a waiting room or over lunch. Iif you love dogs it will make you smile. All ages can probably enjoy this story.
