Arctic Babies by Kathy Darling is a perfect informational book for kids. It tells the reader a lot of information about many different animals within just a few pages. Before it starts with animals it gives a general overview of the arctic and its climates on a weather map. It even gives a couple of examples of terrain and characteristics of each area. The book discusses fourteen different animals found in the arctic area and gives a great amount of information that is short and to the point. Each animal is focused on a double page spread, with an enlarged image on one side and a ton of general information on the other.
I think that this is a great book for children because it doesn't just focus on one animal but rather several that are found in the area. I really liked how the author put a little bit about the area and terrain at the beginning. Then again at the end she wrapped up the book by writing a little letter like page titled About The Arctic. The border around it was beautiful and the pictures throughout the book were very clear and fun to look at. Overall I think the author did a great job.

This book is all about animals who live and thrive in the Arctic. It is filled with great information about each Arctic baby mentioned, what they eat, where they live, and how their mother takes care of them.
This book was excellent! It had many great pictures so the reader could see what the text was describing. And the pictures were all so very cute, so that would appeal to many readers, especially kids. It had fact boxes to the side of the text, so the reader could learn even more about the Arctic animal on each page.
I would share this book with my future children because it would help them learn how certain animals survive in the Arctic. They would learn what they eat, and where they live, and how dangerous they really can be.

An introductive read to Arctic babies with beautiful actual photos to bring the wild right into your home.
The book is easy to read and understand while providing a quick information box of casual tidbits of the babies found while a few extra paragraphs go deeper into the animals' lives themselves.

Interesting facts, sweet pictures, casual voice for an informational text. Text features, such as the info boxes and the ecosystems the animals are a part of, were clear and sensible.
