I really like war themes of all kind so I like WW2 stories. It was a great, terrible, long and unimaginable war, so there is a lot to cover, especially when you can go full graphics like in comics books. But most of the stories are quite similar, like very common stories frontline or "spec ops" and I could almost get feeling there is nothing more to cover, only repeat. But I do not believe that. I believe there still are fresh great stories to discover. Thrill, unexpected twists, well written but still believable action. I believe that. But Sniper Elite - Resistance us not it. British spec ops sniper is dropped in France to make contact with the resistance, but the old childhood "friend", now SS officer, awaits him and thing gets nasty very quick. The start is run-of-the-mill, but the premise with the main hero is quite nice and the "cat-mouse" part is fun. But still, it's quite a mediocre story. However, I'm not really disappointed. I enjoyed the action, even if it's sometimes a bit over the top, the art is fine and as a conclusion: it's practically a video game promo comics. An in this category the expectation is pretty low. But this one is quite good.

Unrealistic story with a lack of any character development or depth. Sure, it’s a quick read with nice enough art, but the story is implausible and just not told well enough.

Some media tie-in comics showcase beautiful art. Others add to existing lore in interesting ways. And some just tell entertaining stories in their own right.

Sniper Elite: Resistance does none of these things.

If you've played any of the Sniper Elite games, this should really come as no surprise. They've always had the flimsiest of stories necessary to give you a good excuse to shoot people and look cool doing it. The real joy is in pulling off long-range shots with a gorgeous and gruesome x-ray camera showing your targets being utterly destroyed.

Since you can't actually do the shooting in this comic, however, all you're left with is the boring, typical WWII story packed with too many one-note characters that you won't care about at all. And while protagonist Karl Fairburne gets some headshots in, the games' famous x-ray camera is nowhere to be seen.

Simply put, there's no reason to read this comic unless you are the literally one person in the world who plays Sniper Elite games for the story. And even then, I don't think you'll see much to love here.
