Craft projects an adult can do with young children will always find an audience and an entire book of dinosaur-themed projects is a welcome idea. This low-key, low-budget book has lots of ideas- 22 of them, each for a different reptile, though the quality of the projects varies. A grazing long-necked dinosaur puppet constructed from an adult-sized t-shirt which a child wears to manipulate (one sleeve is the long neck, while the other is the tail) is a clever project, and a stegosaurus scrap box made from an empty tissue box, paper plate spines, and clothes pin feet seems both do-able and bound to appeal. Some of the other projects though, such as a bone-headed dinosaur pencil topper (tinfoil and half a plastic egg shell for the head, pins for eyes and nose) and a plesiosaurus bathtub toy (corks, tinfoil, and a marker) are too simple and generic. Each project comes with one fact about the dinosaur, a pronunciation guide, a list of ingredients (most are common office and home supplies, though a few will need to be purchased from a craft store), and clear instructions. Crafts for Kids Who are Learning about Dinosaurs is neither visually beautiful nor particularly sophisticated, and there are better craft books, but for kids who just can’t get enough of dinosaurs, this is another fun and useful tool.
