The city of Aberdeen was basking in unseasonably warm sunshine, the buildings were festooned with drapes and bunting and there was an air of excitement amongst its citizens. The King and Queen were due to visit to inaugurate the newly extended Marischal College as part of its Quatercentenary celebrations and the Aberdeen City Police had a huge security operation planned. Inspector Jake Fraser had other matters on his mind with murder most foul casting a dark shadow over the city. His job was to discover why the brutal demise of a pretty, young woman in the Palace Hotel raised more questions than he could ever answer. What was the significance of a large trunk with holes drilled in it? Was it part of an elaborate plot to harm their Majesties? Meanwhile there were others who had their own plans for the royal visit. The race to find answers quickly was paramount.
I have been self-publishing since 2014. The Jake Fraser series is a police procedural set in Aberdeen in the early part of the 20th century. The MILO series is set in the world of Military Intelligence in the 1970s. If you prefer a stand alone read then I offer you One Less For Dinner and The Little Boy Who Didn't Like Corned Beef, which is set in 1964 as Aberdeen was in the grip of a typhoid epidemic.
Lovely story in its simplicity and set in my home town. Having met the author I was intrigued to read and have not been disappointed in the trilogy. Lovely recognising all the addresses and places.
