A union activist and leader tells of his struggles in helping to organize southern farmers and sharecroppers starting in the bleak days of the Depression and continuing through the sixties
Mitchell gave this book to me when he came to speak about the Union in Chicago at an event sponsored by the Socialist Party of Illinois which I was chairing at the time. As was usually the case, being an organizer of the meeting gave me very little opportunity to attend to his presentation, my time being spent at the door, obtaining refreshments et cetera. Reading his book presumably filled me in on what I'd missed.
