Ah, the 70s--when smutty period novels had cigarette ads stitched in their centers and loads of cynicism about marriage. To quote our heroine's mother, "There are three kinds of men--worthy bores, drunken fools, or the fascinating lovers who are always unfaithful." Another highlight of this book was its Philadelphia setting, in a time when 2nd and Spruce was such a shady neighborhood the madam was thinking of relocating the whorehouse.

Picked this up to decide whether it should be discarded from the library and because of the sidesaddle illustration on the cover. While there was a little bit of pre WWI era foxhunting, the novel was pretty boring and because of that and the fact that it had not circulated in eons it went bye-bye from the collection
