Awakening by David Munro is the third in his time travel The Time Jigsaw series and fits in well with the first two books unique mix of tense, fantasy, time travel.
David Munro was born in the north of Edinburgh then moved to the capital's Royal Mile. He was employed by a well-known brewery within the city and at 27, relocated to Aberdeen then 15 months later, to Glasgow. David attended university and college to attain Chartered Marketer status. As an arts professional and with experience of different cultures, this lends to creative literature. Listening to music and taking treks through the scenic Scottish countryside, also assists David in formulating ideas for his novels.
Awakening was an enjoyable book to write. Not only because of a compelling character in Ann Anderson, but also some of the scenes took place in my home city and district. With a ghost being one of the central characters, scenes from Edinburgh's Royal Mile were appropriate. Those who have experience of the 'Ghost Trail' will understand. The story has a WW1 theme with scenes from 1914 and 1916. In those scenes, elation then heartache surround Ann Anderson then a tragedy occurs. The other main character, James Carsell-Brown encounters Ann Anderson as a boy and then an adult. For them, a relationship is forged between reality and the spirit world.

A fast-paced novel in which the main character, a timetraveller, takes us on a whistle-stop tour of people, places and events he encounters over a century or so . The author's grasp of historical detail and ability to make the reader feel as if they too are in the locations and situations in which our narrator finds himself is particularly impressive. This interlinking series merits a tv series!
