About the author

Born in Paris in 1901, Michel Leiris was a French surrealist writer and ethnographer. In the 1920s he became a member of the surrealist movement and contributed to La révolution surréaliste. In those years, he wrote a surrealist novel: Aurora.

After his exit from the surrealist group, he teamed up with Georges Bataille in the magazine Documents.

In realtà qui si parla soprattutto del rapporto tra Picasso e la sua arte. E la tela bianca è il "luogo vuoto in cui avverrà l'incontro". L'arte per Picasso non è una mania e nemmeno una religione, ma quasi un gioco "che resterà eternamente aperto perché mai si sarà tentato tutto".
Quello che distrae e affatica è la prosa dell'autore: troppo involuta, con frasi infinitamente lunghe e mille parentesi.
