Organized by two page spreads of each major topic, Roy describes Indian culture, history, religion, and geography. Set up like an investigation of India, readers can open to any page and find interesting facts along with visually captivating images that help you learn more about India. Beautiful photographs portraying Indian wardrobe, culture and scenic monuments are pictured throughout the text. Roy also incorporates tables and charts that are used as forms of comparing population and geographic features to other world countries.
This would be a good text to use alongside a history lesson of India. It brings in past and present facts with photography that can help students, whether they be familiar or unfamiliar with India, visualize Indian culture and communities. Although this informational text does not go into very specific detail about India, it is a good way to engage students in Indian geography, history, and its fascinating culture.
