A solid middle installment. Mary has escaped the Palace after the end of The New Kings of Tomorrow. But she finds that surviving "Old World" humans aren't what they seem, particularly a secretive religious fanatic named Carla. The humans are fighting back against the Order, now that they know the pandemic that wiped them out (Book 1 was published pre-covid but seemed extremely prescient) is the work of aliens experimenting with Earth. Throughout the story, as the Order's leader Sirus proceeds with his genocidal campaign against the last pre-sickness humans, his dispatches sound more and more desperate.

Author Clark even includes a reference to Stephen King's Dark Tower, which is appropriate. Earth of his Tomorrow series has definitely moved on.

What a great sequel to New Kings of Tomorrow! JM Clark has continued to develop a story that keeps the reader guessing what's coming next, characters that you really root for to succeed (or fail, because he writes a great villain too!), and a world that you want to keep exploring to find out what else is out there. This is a great series so far, and I'm really excited to continue reading future books. Kudos to Mr. Clark on his sophomore novel, I enjoyed it just as much, if not more than, the first.

LOVE IT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I haven’t finished it since I’ve been busy, but it’s just as good, if not better than the first! It’s put together so well and just keeps getting better! (Will have to do a second review once I’m finished). Give this new, young, inspiring author a chance! You won’t be disappointed!

Tough to rate a series independently, but if I had to, I would say this book was better than the first. They both left me wanting more.
