About the author

David K. Brown (1928–2008) was a noted British naval architect. After joining the Admiralty he became a member of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors, rising through the ranks to become the Deputy Chief Naval Architect before retiring in 1988.

A thin volume, but tremendously informative on Royal Navy paddle warships. D.K. Brown was the master of this sort of work.

Alas, no other topic is addressed—of the East India Company ships, only the Nemesis is mentioned, and then only in passing.
