About the author

Dr. Jorge Partida, also known as Dr. Jorge, is a nationally and internationally renowned psychologist and author of The Promise of the Fifth Sun: Ancestral Journey of Self Discovery and La Promesa Del Quinto Sol (Spanish Edition). He is highly sought for his dynamic and inspiring keynote addresses and appears regularly as a television and radio presenter in the US and Latin America.

Dr. Jorge is the CEO of J. Partida Consulting. He consults nationally and internationally with faith-based, government and nonprofit organizations in areas of education, health, social services, leadership, economic development and employment.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jorge has utilized the influences of culture, spirituality and the study of healing to inform his practice and community work. Dr. Partida brings together a broad range of community leaders to create inclusive and participatory solutions to serve all. Dr. Partida has worked in Africa, Europe, Latin-America, and throughout the United States.

Much of Dr. Partidas clinical work has focused on helping victims of poverty and on reducing disproportionate access to health care and social services. He works with government and non-government organizations to develop, implement and evaluate effective solutions to the problems of poor health, addiction, gang violence and incarceration.

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Dr. Jorge immigrated to a small suburb of Chicago, IL at the age of nine years old. He attended public school and continued his passion for learning by obtaining his Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. In 1998, Dr. Jorge moved to California as an effort to retrace the immigration pattern of his grandfather and father, who worked the fields of Northern California since 1944. While in California, he served as Director of the Doctorate Program in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at John F. Kennedy University and Deputy Director of Behavioral Health for the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH).
