I absolutely LOVED this book! It is so well written and takes you right into Israel and specifically Samaria, and into the lives of the characters there. Well crafted and a book to treasure. Thank you so much, Nina Peck!

Had there been more stars to give, this stunning book would have received them. From the first page to the last, Mara's journey, her heartbreak, her flawed humanity and desperate need to be loved had me captivated. For anyone who loves Francine Rivers' The Mark of the Lion Series, you will love this book. It is more than historical fiction, it truly is something special.

I borrowed this copy, I will be buying my own, maybe even two so I can lend one out. So so good!

Wonderful story, by NZ author, but it needed to be proof read. Lots of spelling and grammatical errors. Excellent otherwise.

Absolutely loved reading this book!
The narrative gripped me from the start and was so believable that I had to remind myself that this was a work of historical fiction.Nina crafts the story so precisely that you can feel the atmosphere of the 1st century drama as it unfolds, in such an easy to read way!
Thank you Nina for such a beautiful story - I hope you continue to write such powerful prose!
