Theology for Everyone: Fundamentals of the Christian Faith

Rate this book
Even though William S. Plumer was know in the American Presbyterian community as an intellectual and a very fine theologian, he was given grace from God to exercise an astounding ability to write on profound subjects using the everyman’s language, plain and clear, in order to make known the Word of God to everyone.

This book presents in a rather telegraphic manner, though not in a simplistic way, all the fundamentals doctrines of the Christian faith, focusing on the essentials that could help anyone know the Lord and be saved.

The average Christian will no doubt treasure this book, as he/she will thus have access to a compendium of theology concentrating in only two hundred pages the essential teachings of the Christian faith.

It is interesting to notice that even those believers with rich biblical knowledge have come to treasure Plumer’s book, and this is because they themselves need to “come down” from time to time from studying those deeper and more complicated doctrines of Christianity, to refresh themselves in the fundamentals of the Gospel and to return to the cross of Christ whenever the temptation of intellectualism reaches their souls.

This book has been originally published in 1875 under the title Theology for Everyone. Biblical Doctrine, Plainly Stated. The current edition has been proofread, typeset for eBook readers, and slightly updated for modern readers.
