Compact Disc Read-Only Memory (CD-ROM) is a new technology still less than ten years old. Based on the same parameters as CD-Audio, CD-ROM allows the storage of electrical information on compact disc format. One CD-ROM disc can hold the equivalent of 200000 pages of A4 paper which can be accessed from a personal computer with a CD-ROM drive. CD-ROM is a write-once, read-only medium which ensures that information can never be accidently erased or lost.
