Practical Feline Behaviour contains all the relevant information that anyone involved with the care of house cats needs to understand to handle feline behavior and improve welfare.
This approachable and down-to-earth text describes the internal and external influences feline behavior; communication, learning, social behavior; the relationship between behavior and disease; and on the cat-human relationship. It also provides practical advice on how the welfare of cats in our care may be protected and how behavior problems should be addressed and how to avoid them.
In this book Trudi Atkinson draws on her extensive experience as a veterinary nurse and a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviorist to provide a rapid reference and an intensely practical feline behavior resource for owners, breeders, veterinary professionals, shelter and cattery workers and anyone involved in the care of our feline companions.
A very good book for the first time cat parents! All the advices in this book ar very well pointed. Although most of the ideas in this book ive already knew, but I learned them during 20 years of resing cats.I will recommend clients in my practise, to read ti's book before getting a cat.
I loved this book so much, and even though I have so many - important - books I would really love to read until I die, I am amazed by books about cats, and I actually realised I like them more than books on primates, on chimps. Aren't cats just the royalty of animals, aren't they the most beautiful creatures in the universe? um... I think, YES. Now, I kno... why my cats are so uneducated... who's fault is it? Mine, of course. With great sadness, I realised how much my cats suffered from poor education and understanding and how many mistakes we made with them. I hope their experience in our family was not so horror. I hope they were happy, even though we did not know so much about them and their needs.
