After receiving an urgent summons, Taylor, Hale, and their son embark on a journey to the Shaderunner pack. After over two years of being mates, Taylor and Hale's relationship is as passionate and caustic as ever, and what awaits them at Cain and Sarah's pack has the potential to change their lives forever.
Running with Alphas: Winter is the first novella in a four-part mini-series. It is a direct sequel to Running with Alphas, and shouldn't be read out of order.
I literally squealed when I got the notification that Viola Rivard had published another book, not to mention that this book is about my favorite pack! I loved being back in Halcyon & am dying for the next book to come out. Plus, the two new pups are freaking adorable.. Shadow & Fawn are awesome too.
I always firmly believed that there were two types of writers in this world: the ones who write for money and the ones who write because they love to write. Viola Rivard is the former. There is no doubt that I love Rivard’s stories. I can get lost in them easily. The problem I have with her is her greedy practices. This is a series. As her first book was $2.99 it was fine that is was only 138 pages long. But book 2 however, is also priced at $2.99 but only 80 some pages long. I noticed that her next book in the series is also $2.99 but only 67 pages long. That is UNACCEPTABLE. I also notice that she tends to sell the whole set later at the end for $4.99. It is unsetting that she believes that a person would be willing to pay $12.00+ at the end of this thing. I think it’s dishonest and I don’t think people notice the page decrease. She’s done this thing before in the main “Running With the Alpha” series and I wager that she has done this with her other series.
Book 2 is nothing more than a couple of chapters of filler. More irritating was the fact that Rivard spent 30% of his book rehashing everything from the previous book as well as from the whole original series. That left only about 60 pages or actual story that wasn’t already written somewhere else. I’m tempted to start a list of writer’s who do this type of dishonest practice.
Again, I love Mrs. Rivard’s writing and her stories. I would love to give her the praise she deserves. But this is pure laziness on her part. My advice would be to lower the price or write more to compensate for the cost. Until then I refuse to give this more than a one star rating for her one star effort.
PS. See notes. To top it off, this thing still needs some editing.
YEA I was so excited to read this new book in the Running with Alphas Series! Viola Rivards books have been one of my all time favorite. In this new Seasons series she revisits Hale, Alder and Taylor. This in particular is the relationship of Hale and Taylor. Hale has never been the most romantic of the twins, he is more of the rough and tough. He was not even interested in having pups. Now after the birth of Shadow and his twin sister the urges and taking of Taylor has him seeing her solely as his Mate. They have received an urgent request to go to Cain and Sarah's den. Along the journey Hale lets it be know that he wants more pups and that Taylor must do this. This does not sit well with her and puts them as opposite ends of their love life as well. We also reconnect with Cain and Sarah, these two lovebirds have had a long history of love. 14 pups later and they still only have eyes for each other. However, time has taken it's toll on Sarah and she needs to have Taylor take the unwanted newborn pups to feed and care for, Can Taylor provide and save her mate/marriage? Will Hale accept this arrangement and take in newborns? I cannot wait to see what Spring has to offer!
I have missed Viola Rivard's wolf packs . I was happy to catch up with some old favorites. I know it can't just be me but did anyone else have the urge to smack Hale upside his head for a hot minute ? I get so involved in this series I feel like I can climb into the book and give my two cents worth lol. I love the dynamics of these wolves. The alpha males are unashamedly dominant whereas in my opinion the human female is the center of the pack that hold it altogether. Looking forward to the next book!
This character driven story held me in such thrall I didn't even notice there was so very little sex. This is a good thing. These shifters are just another species in our world. They live in the wild with few human conveniences but what they provide for their human mates. For all of their wildness they are also loving, sensitive, protective, totally family oriented, and live a life of such fun and adventure you won't want to leave.
Another awesome read by Rivard. I hadn't been reading a lot lately but when hdr newest book came out I couldn't put it down and I'm excited read Harper now and the next installment of the seasons series I love reading about Hale, Adler and Taylor the romance and humor combined along side the cute family moments makes for a book I just can't put down. April's release can't come soon enough!!
As always I love my Alphas Hale and Alder. In this story we get a deeper look at what is going on with the pact and a emotional mother. While Sarah gets to visit her sister we get to see the beautiful Cain. I love the way the story is going and cant wait to see wgat happens with the new pack. Ready for more.
These books never get dull! This is one of my favorite series. Alder, Taylor, and Hale are a great mated team. The antics of Hale are great. But I will not lie, I did cry a bit when Hale was being a "Richard". I love seeing the family grow and both Hale and Taylor stand up to their feels. I can't wait for the next one.
Alder and Hale story continues I love all the stories. It is best at the beginning of the love affair of two brothers and the ability to share one women.
ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL !!! Running With Alphas: Winter Author: Viola Rivard Series: Seasons Designation: Book 1 of 4, Running With Alpha Sequel Series, Not A Standalone, Author Advises Books Should Be Read In Order Of Release #paranormalromance Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars***** I've been a fan of Viola Rivard for years and was thrilled when I received my newsletter announcing her return to writing and with a brand new release! It's been two years since Rivard released a story featuring her Halcyon and Shaderunner Packs, but after only the first few pages of Running With Alphas: Winter, I found myself easily and completely reimmersed in the lives of the Wolves of Appalachia, as if I'd read their stories only last week. Reading about the Halcyon and Shaderunner Packs felt like coming home. And as usual, Rivard didn't disappoint. Running With Alphas: Winter is an exciting return to the Wolves of Appalachia featuring characters from both Halcyon and Shadrunner packs. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives from Taylor and Hale. But don't worry, although this story is told by Taylor and Hale, we still get to see our other favorite characters along with Alder who is still his customary laidback self, but I guess he has to be to counterbalance his brother Hale's always hotheaded demeanor. lol... Despite being a father, poor Hale still gets into trouble by speaking and acting before he thinks! And, of course, Hale still claims that Taylor is his mate, but I think Alder would disagree by saying Taylor is their mate! lol... Thank goodness, some things never change, especially not Hale! Did I like this story? Yes, very much, and can hardly wait for the second book of this follow-up series. I recommend reading this book only after reading the Running With Alpha Series and not as a standalone. It's a quick, fast-paced, easy-to-follow novella and doesn't end in a cliffhanger per se, but more like a happy for now. Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit sex scenes. And yes, Hale is still a horndog! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! I was thrilled when I received Rivard's newsletter announcing her return and new release. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and, hopefully, many more books to come. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! **I read this book using Amazon's Kindle Unlimited program.
