They Can't Stop Me: Return of a Savage

Rate this book
**FULL STANDALONE NOVEL**

When Shalom ‘Sha’ Barron was sentenced to life in prison, the only thing he could not accept was leaving behind his most precious jewel - his sister, Talya. He entrusted her wellbeing, along with his business, to his closest friend and business partner, Sayvion ‘Say’ Mitchell. The only thing he forbade was for any one in his crew to have a relationship with Talya.
Sayvion disregarded his wish, one year after he was locked up. Not only did he disregard it, he became abusive with Talya. Never once did he consider Shalom being released from prison.

New evidence is presented, and Shalom is a free man with one goal on his killing Sayvion. He goes on a warpath, combing the streets and eliminating those closest to Sayvion. Shalom is determined to bring him out of hiding without a care of who’s caught in the crossfire. When Shalom learns of one of Sayvion’s secrets, he realizes his bargaining chip has been at his disposal this entire time. Will this bring Sayvion out of hiding, or will it add fuel to the already brewing war on the streets?

Talya is fighting for her life and has lost hope. Although she can hear the people around her, she is mentally trapped in a place where she feels she has nothing left to fight for. After a week, a voice finally decides to speak to her, telling her she has to fight; that she is his world and he can’t make it on the outside without her. Determined she is going to pull through, she does just that. Although it takes a while for her to get herself back together, she does it with the help of Sha, Blockz, Shonday and Tricia. But the anger she has in her will not dissipate, and despite Sha’s warnings of letting him handle things, she sets out on her own mission to destroy those who hurt her. Will she remain standing, or will it cost her, her life this time?

Blockz has been beside Talya’s side the entire time, feeling the guilt of the night that left her in a coma. In addition to that guilt, he has also been keeping a secret from Sha and Talya. Not knowing how to disclose the information he has been told, he is now faced with the task of trying to stop a war with someone who’s gunning for SBD due to Sayvion’s actions. Will he be able to cease fire in time, or will someone unwillingly end up making one of the biggest mistakes of their lives?

When it’s all said and done, lives will be lost, secrets will be revealed, friends will become enemies, and sides will be chosen. But one thing is for a savage has returned, and he can’t be stopped!

I came across this author when reading an anthology on Domestic Violence and fell in love with her flow almost immediately. After hearing that she was writing a full-length novel I knew that I would stalk her, the publisher, and Amazon until the book link finally went LIVE!! This book is comprised of characters that kept me completely immersed in their lives. The story opens with the recap of the brutal assault of Talya and we see that while one can be smart, have love, goals & aspirations when a predator is intent on inflicting harm then ultimately the very essence of the victim can be crushed. Tayla was young, exuberant, and full of life and yet she was guilty of two things that changed the very trajectory of her life's journey. She ultimately trusted a wolf wrapped up in the garment of good intentions and she was blind to the fact that the very love that she always wanted and was looking for had been right by her side all along. Shalom, Tayla's older brother filled the role of mother, father, big brother, mentor, and friend all rolled into one. While the streets may have viewed him as heartless, his all-encompassing love for his sister knew no bounds and was unconditional. He loved her like no other so once he was able to administer his own brand of justice no force on or off this earth was going to get in his way. Blockz, the always steady, intelligent quiet force of nature had always been there riding with Shalom and Talya. He seemed to be someone that moved quietly but deadly. The very one that all three of these characters trusted with their entire being set the wheels in motion to delve out the ultimate betrayal. It is through these character's actions that we are able to witness the inner strength in Talya, ride along as Blockz faced his feelings, and watched the savage in Shalom rise again. Ms. Lewis penned a tale that kept me riveted to the pages as I shouted words of advice, screamed recriminations, cursed the betrayers, and devised my own wicked plans for the guilty. Every word, every page, every scene in the book brought forth a multitude of emotions that only caused me to thirst and crave more. I don't say this often but when I run across a first time author who has the ability to pull me from my day-to-day existence and provide me with an all-expense paid ticket to their land of creativity with such a seamless flow, I become as excited as a kid opening a present for the very first time. The literary gods have once again sent us a writing ingenue so talented that we can only hope to be witness to the creativity that is sure to flow each and every time she puts pen to paper. I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end. I was fully invested in their lives, creating additional scenarios in my mind about what they were doing long after I read the very last page. That to me is a true testament of not just a good writer but a GREAT WRITER!! Ms. Lewis this journey that you have blessed us to be front-row witnesses to can only prove to be more illuminating than any other ride I've had the pleasure of taking. People say that the heart and character of GREAT writers are forged and fashioned in the crucibles and furnaces of sufferings and hardships. The level of emotion and intensity that we, the readers, are able to feel as we devour your words truly are a testament that you may have been through the fire, suffered much but you turned that around and allowed the fire that burned from the inside out help you to create characters that are sure to stand the test of time for many ages to come. Kudos on such a dynamic first release and don't keep us waiting too long because I for one will be waiting with bated breath until you drop yet another heart-stoppingly brilliant masterpiece once again!!

First, I had to go back and read the anthology of domestic violence this author wrote, to obtain the background on these characters and I knew after reading that, this is a author on the rise and one to watch. This book picks right up where the anthology left off and held my attention to the very end and I loved the way this book ended. It was very well written and very developed as well and the characters, Character development was amazing and I had a visual of these characters and that was awesome. Loved how this book flowed throught the story and it keep a steady pace and I couldn't get enough, It was full of drama, lies, deceit, betrayal, secrets, twist and turns and throw in all the suspense made this a page-turner and then some. Loved how it all connected together once all secrets were revealed and can't wait to see more of these character. Great standalone with more to come and I can't wait. Amazing debut novel Sparkle Lewis and you did a amazing job. Highly recommend.

Secrets that could have caused more damage than it did!!

Good standalone with lots of drama. Sha was a stand up Man that loved his family with everything in him and deserved his happy ending. Finding out what both Tricia and Tayla were capable of. Tricia was a snake from the beginning. Finding out that Tayla was an undercover Savage was surprising, especially after what she let Say put her through. Blockz is definitely the Man for Tayla, but he made some moves that had looking suspicious, but the reasoning outweighed the risk. The real family dynamics leads to so much more. Took a minute to figure out who Karen was, but finding out Divines true identity was like woah!!!! To be the authors debut... she came out swinging. What is there to say about Say.....

Secrets secrets secrets

There were so many secrets revealed. Sayvion was nuts, Talya wanted that love and protection her brother Shalom provided and Shalom was a good dude who wanted to protect his family by any means necessary. For Sayvion to do what he did to Talya was grimey. No loyalty to his friend of 17 years, but drugs are a beast. All at once things were revealed at the end that made my head hurt. The person who set Sha up, and their reason for doing so, was unbelievable. You just never know who has your back, can't trust everybody. To be a debut, it was really good, lots of detail and the dialogue was good.

Banger

Listen here, talk about coming out swinging! Sparkle you did this. The best way to describe this book is "old school hood" you painted such a vivid picture in my mind that it was more like a movie than a book. Shalom is BAE and I loved how he protected his sister. Say got what he came for. Talya went through the fire and came out a diamond with BAE #2 Blockz . The way Tricia was a snake, I wanted to get her myself then she wanted someone to feel sorry for her talking bout he treated me like a hoe. Girl bye... but this book was everything. Can't wait for your next release.

Did that

She really did that. I was drawn in from the very beginning. And nothing is at all what it seems. At first glance Talya seems weak almost. You can't understand why she put up with what she did. But as you read you see she's actually a savage lol. She just lost herself for a minute. Blockz and Shalom are Bae both for separate reasons. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book was outstanding. It's full of treachery, lies, plot twist, and drama. This was my first time hearing about this author and I can't wait for more.

This is my first book by the author and I must say I loved it. I believe that if someone entrusted you to take care of their business and family but not break the number one rule you should follow it. Say was a snake in the grass and deserved everything he gets. Talya should have never stayed with Say long enuff to her the way he did nobody deserves to be abused like that at all. I am glad Sha was able to come he and wreck havoc over his sister. Glad they was able to have a special happy ending though wish it was more to come.

I liked it!

This book was interesting,I love standalones and I glad this one did not start from when everybody was in grade school and last for 5 hours. I am happy that Talya got her happy ending. She was a smart girl that lost her way but was Abel to come back because she was a strong women in the first place. Shalom was an outstanding guy that knew a grimey B when he saw one , the love that he had for his sister was very strong. Brayden was a good guy and I am glad he got a good women . I am looking forward to Ki'Asia:s story. Don't make us wait to long.

Dope read

This book was great from page one.the story just flowed and had me intrigued all the way through. I loved-the way Sha went so hard for his sister as well as blocks.
Say is a evil prick and was so glad he got dealt with. The crew in a while was like a Family and was go be there no matter what. Bow Trica needed to have her tail tortured for what she did to Sha and then to befriend Tal that’s grimy. Overall the book was great and I can’t wait for Ky’Asia story come out!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a really good book. So much to say, I don’t know where to start. I shed a tear or three for Talya, that was horrible what Sayvion did to her. I can’t believe all the 💩 that came out about Tricia I was definitely not expecting that. I looooved Blockz he was bae, Sha got out playing no games and I loved the relationship he had with Talya. I’m also happy that they were introduced to their father and forgave their mother. All in all this was a great book🔥🔥

Very good

Sha was an amazing big brother from the start always had Talyas best interest at heart, Blockz was everything she didn't know she needed & Shon-Shon was a true friend vs that other mess. This was a good read for me and I'm looking forward to reading more of her work in the future.

Excellent read!

This was a great read! I was disappointed that Talya began blaming herself for what Say did to her but was ecstatic when she regained her strength. I never thought that it was Tricia that set Sha up. She was crazy for thinking Sha would be with her again. I think Blockz was the perfect person for Talya. I can’t wait to read about Ki’Asia and her story.

Lot going on...

I didn't read the books before, but the way the author wrote it, u didn't need to. She did a good job of providing a new reader with all the info needed. The storyline was full of drama and I'm glad Talya got her happy ending. The names in the book threw me for one, but the storyline was really interesting and I finished it in a few hours of reading it.

Ok this book is a must read. Tayla is something else when she’s pushed to that limit. Say was on some grimy stuff along with everybody associated with him. I don’t wanna include any spoilers because once everything hits the fan, I could not put this book down. Again this is a must read

When it’s all on the table !!!!!

Sayvion was a piece of work, with all his secrets spilling left and right he didn’t have any clue about what to do. Sha and Tayla I’m glad they were able to get their closure. Dino my heart went out to him, reading his part was a little hard. Blockz he was one of the realist.

First but definitely not the last

So well written. There wasn't drama just for the sake of drama. And at first I was thinking that Talya was crazy until I realized she was as smart savage. Love the book, can't wait to see what she has next.

This book here had my blood pressure up and down. Abuse is something serious and a lot of people need to get help before it’s too late. I won’t give the book away but it is a good read.
