Love Hate Repeat is an intense and lyrical account of love’s second chance dawning at a time when life comes knocking and big decisions need to be made.

It is different in a way. It is not a traditional romance but more like a New Adult contemporary which brings us very close to the life and thoughts of one of the main characters, Kell, from whose point of view the story is told. What can I tell you about Kell? He is one of those infuriating (at times) characters, who you want to slap some sense into but few pages after you want to hug him. Damian, on the other hand, I found completely adorable, however questionable that adoration might seem at the beginning of the book. Just wait and see!

The only issue I had with the book was that at some point the narrative became repetitive. Kell and Damian are quite cute and hot in all their scenes together but there was a bit too much of go to classes – eat -make love-repeat. Such narrative is also much truer to life than you get to see in romance and everyone who’s been to university/college can relate to this type of “exciting monotony”.

The pace picks up at some point, things start to happen and it becomes page-turning interesting. This, combined with the poetical feel of Kell’s thoughts makes it a really good read.

In her debut novel Vivyan Lynne captures all the passion and chaos of youth on the shimmering borderline between lust and devotion at a time when love can be all-consuming but there’s also a whole world to discover.

This isn't my usual type of read, but I have to say it was well written and thoroughly enjoyable. At first I thought it was a male writer as the thought process of the two male leads felt very authentic. This book is pretty deep at times, but I really liked the characters. I wish the author the best of luck!! 4.5 stars.

I enjoyed this book. It's not my usual fare; I don't wander very far from historical fiction and fantasy, but this was a nice change of pace. It was certainly more youthful than what I am used to. Generally I liked the two main characters Kellen and Damien. They seemed to fit into their reality well, but the conflict existed in how they fit together as people and partners. At first I was not sure about Damien. He seemed to be a little unpredictable. Some part of me worried about him and some of his reactions. Also Kellen made some decisions that seemed very much like self sabotage. But that's just part of being young and in love.

Sometimes it did seem like the story lagged a bit, but it could just be that it was not an adventure so much as it was a story of young love, and young people in college. As a gamer and someone who loves tech, the whole computer science and getting the internship thing was interesting to me. Other than that it was just a nice story about young love and the issues that crop up when you're in a relationship. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

A 4 star review for The Blogger Girls

Let me be clear up front. This rating has everything to do with the writing, and the emotional impact of the story, and not because I thought this was a beautiful romance. Nope, no way. Just the opposite, actually. Kell and Damian really have nothing, nada, zippo holding them together, except sex. And when I was running out of pages to read and things were not fully settled I started to get nervous, until I realized this was series and the Kell and Damian dynamic would continue on.

Vivyan Lynne is a new author to me, so I really had no idea what to expect. But, I did not expect what I got, which was a relationship so dysfunctional that it bordered on being toxic. It was like a car wreck that you could not turn away from because you have this sick fascination with seeing other people’s bad luck and being thankful it is not you. That was the case here, but at least it did end on a slightly positive uptick. I now need to instantly read the next book because I definitely need to see where these two knuckleheads go from here. If it’s anything like this one, it won’t be easy, but I think I at least know what to expect.

This is more a coming of age/college novel than a traditional m/m romance. Kell and Damien had some sexual encounters in high school, but were not in any emotionally committed relationship. This is the story of how they reconnect in college and begin to build that emotional connection. Both of the main characters have issues they need to work through and while we have a HFN at the end of this book, it is clear that the relationship is not a solid one and that book two promises some rough times ahead for these two. If you don't like unresolved storylines, it might be best to plan on reading book two directly after this one to see how this pans out.

A really strong start to this trilogy, I look forward to reading the other books. I can't wait to read more about Kellen and Damian.

DNF @ 6%.

A lot of telling vs showing. Not very engaging writing.

While I don’t mind FTB, I find it weird that a book where these guys were fuck buddies in high school and fucked 3 times since running into each other the night before, FTB seems an odd choice.

Also, how do they just run into each other at a friend’s party after 2 years of not seeing each other or even knowing if they went to the same university?

And how would Ken have told Jenn that the MC went home with Damien if Ken wasn’t at the party himself?

Kell and Damian met in high school. They had sex in high school with little to no emotion involved. Fast forward a couple of years and they meet again and jump right back to where they left off. It was a second chance romance. The story was well written. I really liked the characters even if I thought Kell was self-destructive.
I am voluntarily leaving a review form an ARC that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.

This is such an interesting book. I'm left with so many questions leading into the second book in the series.

Are we dealing with depression?
Is there mental abuse or controlling behavior inherent in this relationship?
Is one member trying to distance the other from his friends?

I do think love is there...but will it be enough?

Do you ever get lost in a good book? Decide to read a few pages and end up reading a few dozen instead? I did, and when it was all over I started the sequel right away 😁
+ Great setting
+ Vivid characters
+ Excellent dialogue

This one just isn't doing anything for me.
First, I don't enjoy the present tense writing style.
Second, I didn't feel enough of a connection to the characters to continue.

Altogether 3.5 stars for this interesting and partly really intense second chance romance.
Kell and Damian know each other from high school were they had a strictly physical relationship. Now in college they reconnect and want to try to build a real relationship. Altogether the blurb sounded really interesting, the writing style was fluent and the editing well done. But for me big parts of this book felt quite monotone. There seems to be a constant repetition of "meeting and tumbling into bed, sharing a meal and Kell going to his college courses". Of course that may be realistic, but it is not very captivating to read...
Another issue for me was that the story is only from Kell's POV which is why I had real problems to connect and understand Damian and his motivations. And in Addition I could not really feel the developing feelings between the two men or what connects them, for me the relationship still was just physical with some aspects bordering on obsession.
But altogether the story was interesting enough to Keep me entertained and as the next book seems to be Damian's POV, I will definitely give this one a try.

An easy read but one that kept me interested and invested in the characters who are wonderfully human and equally flawed.

I found the repetitive routine of college classes to offer a grounding feel, keeping both me and the book in reality. I appreciated how it was used to also offer a clear opposite to the whirlwind romance we follow through the book. The feeling of being so swept up in love (or lust!) is clearly portrayed and, while Kellen certainly doesn't find the college time grounding, it offers the reader an opportunity to view the relationship with more perspective and figure out how they feel.
