The Economy of Turkey Since Liberalization

Rate this book
Many developing countries have embarked on liberalization programmes in recent years. One such programme which has attracted wide attention and posed a number of analytical issues is that undertaken by Turkey during the 1980s. The nine essays in this volume provide an in-depth theoretical and empirical analysis of both the nature and magnitude of the liberalization policies undertaken by Turkey and their impact on the Turkish economy. The essays are wide ranging and cover a number of issues including trade policy reform, liberalization in terms of trade, foreign direct investment and foreign aid to Turkey and Turkey's relationships with the European Community. The book provides a number of lessons drawn from Turkey's experience for other developing countries which have embarked on trade liberalization programmes.
