Overall this is an excellent series for beginning to read the arabic alphabet and starting to decipher it. She explains most everything in great detail, gives plenty of examples to test yourself, and make the book feel challenging yet rewarding.

With that being said the reason I can't give it a full five stars is that I believe there are a couple of sections that either have errors or I struggled to understand. However if you add in a teacher to work thru those parts with you or to correct them I'd change it to a five stars. 😊 highly recommended

This was a fun book to follow, with engaging exercises.

My first read-though was just a skim, to get a sense of the lessons the book provided. The best lessons in my opinion were of the form "here's a word written phonetically in Arabic, what word is this in English?"

On my second pass through the book, I did all the exercises in a separate notebook, writing out all the Arabic words and phrases by hand to build muscle memory and improve my handwriting. (I had to use a separate notebook because of insufficient space and because the print paper weight was quite low--ink bleeds right through it.) This took quite a while, but I got a lot more out of it than my first read.

I did come across a couple of typographical errors (Arkansas is pronounced /ˈɑːr.kən.sɑː/ -- "ar-kun-SAW", not "ar-KAN-sus"), but apart from that this book was of very high quality.
