“As a mother, I strongly believe we need to nurture our children and equip them with life and social skills that will help develop them personally,” says Orla Kelly on writing The Owl and The Magical Medicine Tree.
This three-part animal action and adventure series capture the very essence of childhood.
Set in a world of forest animals who start off as strangers and enemies but who
to recognize the value of each other,
the collective power of teamwork,
about caring for and looking after each other,
about the magic healing power of nature,
taking care of the environment,
making the world a better place.
This is a forest story and a wonderful read at nap time, bedtime or anytime for small children. The story captures a child’s imagination and teaches about imagination and play. It uplifts and molds children to be brave, overcome challenges, look out for each other, help each other, appreciate all the good things in our lives, taking care of their environment, and making the world a better place to live.
This is a really cute wholesome story with many wonderful ideas to share with one's children, I just wished it would have had more illustrations. I personally found with my own daughter the illustrations were half of the premise of the bedtime story, we both enjoyed them as much as the story itself. A lovely book just the same.
I wouldn’t class it as a very young children’s book, it is quite wordy for a young children’s book. I liked it though, it was a great little read full of loads of different lessons to be learned. One of the main ones I enjoyed was about working together, make a family with everyone around you, to then make a great home.
I would have liked to have seen more images, just something to break up the words more.

This is a good short story that teaches children about being a good and the beginning stages of what having manners and respect is. I finished it in one sitting and read it to my son over a few nights. Well, I read the paperback, which has all three parts, but I read this part one as an e-book.
Spoiler Free Review: I always admire people who write children’s books. It takes a certain level of creativity and experience to pull it off. Now having said that, when I do admire Orla for her hard work and effort, I’m afraid this did not work for me at all.
I was bored. Like really bored. I’m aware that I’m not the target audience, however I feel the need to point out that I’ve read and enjoyed countless books for children and have fallen in love with plenty of them. This simply did not cut it.
The Owly Trilogy was just loong and too wordy at times. This needed images to support the story and kind of break through all the long paragraphs. The dialogue was sparse. We were told ....
