A class of first graders go on a field trip to the museum. All the kids are very excited and as soon as they get there a few students wondered of to go see the dinosaur exhibit. several other children follow and they forget which way the came because of their excitement to see the dinosaur. this shows a child's sense of adventure and curiosity because they are currently not mindful that they are separated from the group and that they could be lost but are only focused on the dinosaur. one of the boys get scared and they all set out to find their teacher and the rest of the class. unfortunately they are unsuccessful and soon start to panic. The one scared boy is desperate to find the teacher and sets out on his own to find her.
The darker colors in these cartoon illustrations could represent the darkness of fear the children feel while they are looking for their teacher and fellow classmates. although the colors are darker, the illustrations are still very colorful. This is what catches the readers eye more than anything. the illustrations coordinate with what is being said and really enhances the story line.
