Edgar DeWitt Jones as a Disciples of Christ minister, serving congregations in Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois, before being called in 1920 to be the Minister of Central Christian Church of Detroit, MI. In 1926 Central Christian Churche merged with another congregation to form Central Woodward Christian Church. He would serve as pastor of this church from 1926 until his retirement in 1946.
He was a well known religious leader in Detroit and nationally, serving as President of the Federal Council of Churches in the 1930s. He was also a scholar and collector of memorabilia of Abraham Lincoln.
Some important factual and historical information about preachers from America and England in the last 150 years. However, this book is reminder of how much more liberal the church in the United States has become. As it moved into the 20th century, most , if not all of the presenters were liberal in their theology. This lecture series continues today at Yale.
