This volume provides a timely survey of the molecular biology of the endocrine system with special emphasis on the molecular mechanisms underlying hormonal control of cellular metabolism, reproduction, development and growth. The first part of the volume contains contributions from the invited speakers, organized into sessions covering peptide and polypeptide hormones, growth factors and oncogenes, peptide and protein receptors, glycoprotein hormones, steroid receptors and gene regulation, and lymphokines, interleukins, interferons and receptors. The second half of the volume includes selected papers presented in the poster sessions. All papers are complete mini-reports and are appropriately documented.
