This was written by an academic historian in 1904, which was its first attraction for me. How accurate or objective it is, I don't know. It was obvious he had used primary sources to research the material and often quoted newspaper articles, government reports, etc.
The free kindle copy I read was extremely hard to follow due to the way it was presented on the page.
