Blake Armstrong! What was he doing at Pagett's, when Sister Jenefer Gale had thought him safely on the high-flyers career ladder at Hartlake? He'd been the rising star of the Neuro-surgical Unit and had sacrificed his engagement to Jenefer for the sake of ambition. Or so she thought. But finding out the true story would mean a close relationship with Blake again … dare she take the chance?
This is the second Lynne Collins book I’ve read, with a similarly iffy result. Once again we’ve got a second-chance romance set in a hospital chock full of petty nurses and doctors. There’s a questionable H and a wishy-washy h you just want to shake for her nonsense. Six years after having broken their engagement, the H reinserts himself into the h’s work life, somehow expecting to resume relations as though nothing happened, then is ‘disappointed’ that the h doesn’t welcome him with open arms. Did I mention he was married and widowed during the intervening years? My first reaction was what an arrogant a**! (In this book, we at least understand the H’s reasons, but come on!) Initially, the h puts him in his place, but soon realizes she still loves the H, with a predictable chain of events and a lot of drivel.
