"If you want to hoot with the owls, you have to scream with the eagles" is a compilation of micro stories, and poetry/prose. A straight forward, cynical, and emotional trip into the mind of author Arthur J. Willhelm.
Arthur J. Willhelm is a Chef, Writer and Poet from New Jersey. Taking inspiration from the Beat Generation and writers that range from Kurt Vonnegut to Nick Hornby. Arthur writes what he feels and doesn't pull punches when ink reaches paper, blending brutal honesty with literary shit talking.
It took some time for me to write a review for this book. I read it 3 times, not because it's complex or anything but because it's an easy read and that's the highlight of this book. Arthur's writing grows on you.
He mentioned the following in one of his poems- I write this shit whatever it is and hope that someone will read it and understand. I’m not trying to be deep
He has a unique style. His peculiar style of writing makes this book an enjoyable read. I enjoyed reading it again and again. Poems are fun, witty and at the same time serious.
Arthur is an amazing storyteller. His ability to tell stories in a few lines is something that needs to be highlighted. He writes with guts and as I reached the last page, I felt happy realizing that poetry is not dead. I recommend this book to every poetry lovers. Its a must read. I'm waiting for his next book. (:
