The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi Bible Study Guide: Come to the Land Where It All Began

Rate this book
Are you ready to begin your journey to a deeper faith? In this six-session video study (DVD/digital downloads sold separately), Kathie Lee invites you to join her as she visits sites in Israel that have impacted her life. As she shares her story, coauthor Rabbi Jason Sobel, a messianic Jewish rabbi, provides fascinating background details that make the story of the New Testament come alive. Kathie Lee and Rabbi Sobel will take you and your group beyond the typical "Sunday school" teaching to examine the true texts of the Bible.

Something profound happens when we follow along the ancient paths in the actual places where Jesus taught, healed, lived, died, was resurrected, and ascended into heaven. As Kathie Lee and Rabbi Sobel reveal in this study, Jesus is indeed the Rock and the Rabbi whom we follow along this Road in life. And when we are introduced to the mysteries of the Word by teachers who are trained in the ancient rabbinical way, radical transformation begins to renew our hearts and minds.

The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi Study Guide includes video discussion questions, Bible exploration, and personal study and reflection materials for in-between sessions.

Sessions include:

Bethlehem: Where It All Began
Nazareth: The Early Years
Capernaum: Ministry Headquarters
Galilee: Ministry Grounds
Mount of Olives: The Triumphal Entry
Jerusalem: Crucifixion and Resurrection

For anyone who has even a passing interest in Israel, history or faith this is a terrific read. Going on a virtual trek to the place setting of multiple scriptural scenes with a rabbi to teach is enlightening. I bet most anyone who looks through this book will walk away with a sense of God's intimacy .

I was invited to be part of the 6-week online study of The Rock, the Road & the Rabbi presented by Bible Gateway
In this study Kathy Lee Gifford takes the knowledge that she gleaned by being part of a Ray Vander Laan tour and her friendship with Rabbi Jason Sobel to “create” a new kind of study.

I love that prior to the official start of the study we were given an optional 7-day devotional to kick start the learning process.
There was also a weekly hands-on activity to aid in driving the point home.

WEEK 1 – Bethlehem: Where it All Began
WEEK 2 – Nazareth: The Early Years
WEEK 3 – Capernaum: Ministry Headquarters
WEEK 4 – Galilee: Ministry Grounds
WEEK 5 – Mount of Olives: The Triumpful Entry
WEEK 6 – Jerusalem: Crucifixion & Resurrection

I anxiously awaited the lesson for each week and I was humbled each and every time as I realized just how much I didn’t know.

One thing is for sure, now more than ever, I want to travel to The Holy Land. How about you?

Loved the book and wanted to share this journey with my faith group, LIVE LOVED, which meets in the social VR app called AltspaceVR.

This book is a journey. One that is on my bucket list to take in person, but for now will have to settle by living vicariously through two wonderful people.
Kathie Lee Gifford - her love for Jesus and desire to grow in Him is infectious.
Messianic Rabbi Jason Sobel - he speaks with an exuberance that can not be tamed.

With Kathie Lee's love for Israel and Rabbi Sobel's knowledge of the Hebrew faith, they take each of us to places where Jesus walked. Together they explore the foundations of the Christian faith.

I joined several friends for this online six-session video study where Kathie Lee Gifford visits Israel and shares her story with Messianic Jewish Rabbi Jason Sobel. The six sessions cover the following locations: Bethlehem, Nazareth, Capernaum, Galilee, Mount of Olives, and Jerusalem. This study guide provides helpful maps, background information for each location, video highlights/questions, hands-on activities, and "digging deeper" questions for personal study. This study guide was helpful for our online video series with questions that were fairly straightforward and not overly complex.

The content of this book is actually worthy of 4 stars—its great when used with the book and the videos that make up this study. The problem is the format—it is very confusing, and would have been better served as a book/study guide all in one. And I knocked stars off for the study guide not covering several chapters of the book—all of the information was so good, I just wanted more to accompany the book.

Love this study guide!

Excellent companion book to the full book “The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi.” If you’re fam watch the videos while going through it too, even better. This really takes the reader to the next level from just reading to really interacting with both Gifford’s book and the Bible.

This book and Bible study were life-changing! I understand so much more about the reason why God chose certain places, certain times. One may not have ever expected such an impact from Kathie Lee Gifford, but she delivers some of the best news I’ve had in my lifetime! Her partnership with Rabbi Jason Sobel blessed me so much!

Thought provoking

Thought provoking and mind blowing. I've been a believer nearly all my life and never considered some of the connections between the old and new testament brought up here. I encourage anyone who feels in a rut, to compete this study. Jesus makes all things new.

Great Bible study that explains so many little significant things in the Bible that we often just overlook. I enjoyed learning more about the Jewish beliefs that shape our Christian world today.

I’ve had the honor of facilitating a wonderful group the last 6 weeks! We started with just 2 and grew to 90 members!! God is good! We have learned and shared with one another and I’m sad that it’s come to an end. So many truthful nuggets from The Rock, The Road, & The Rabbi! I highly recommend this study with the book as companion! This was my first experience with Rabbi Jason Strobel and I learned a lot! You’ll discover so much about the Jewish customs, Hebrew language, and the places Jesus lived. #biblestudy #biblestudyfellowship #onlinebiblestudy #therocktheroadandtherabbi #rockroadrabbi #theholyland #theholylandexperience

The Bible study online for this book didn't include all the chapters of the actual book, so I am looking forward to reading the rest of the chapters.

This is probably one of the only bible studies that is a general study (not over a specific book of the Bible) that I have enjoyed! Very interesting read and study! Homework is super easy though 😁
