Coombs is a member of the Wampanoag tribe and the Native American Developer at The Children’s Museum, Boston. Her knowledge of Powwows is evident in this story about a young girl, Tina, participating in her first powwow. Waterman is one of the Seneca Nation of Indian’s “most renowned artists.” This text is the best example of a respectful cultural fiction book since it is written and illustrated by members of the culture mentioned.

Great insider book for Native American Pow Wows. It has great facts that are presented in a narrative and it allows for the reader to understand what a pow wow is and what it means to Native Americans.
