Like most of the souvenir books produced by Pitkin Pictorials, this guide highlights the history and architecture of the cathedral and provides photographs for visitors to remember her by. The author mentions Salisbury Cathedral's location about ten miles from Stonehenge. He describes it as a "quiet, secluded, and lovely setting." The overview photograph on the back cover pictures the cathedral in the midst of the greater area and one sees that he really means it contains more green space than most. I was intrigued by the description of the cathedral's library which houses one of four contemporary copies of the Magna Carta, the Fons Jacobi which is the only surviving copy of this fifteenth century devotional book, many 9th to 13th century manuscripts, and more than thirty books printed before 1500. I want to visit this cathedral which intrigues me. The armchair trip may not be enough!
