How to Start a Clothing Business: in 7 steps
This is the perfect nutshell e-book for someone who is looking at starting their own clothing business or clothing brand.
Why should you listen to my opinion? Put simply, I have been there and done it. I am the founder of the clothing business, Rupert and Buckley. A well-recognized brand throughout the UK and the rest of Europe. I founded my business in 2011 using all the money from my student savings account. I took the biggest risk of my life and invested what was my savings pot for law school, into a pop-up shop. While studying law at university I had saved up £11,000 / €14,000 / $16,000. After graduating, I was offered my place in law school to become a barrister. Those are the people you may see on the TV wearing the wigs! I bit my lip and declined my place to the law school of my dreams. I found an empty shop in my hometown, Bath, England. I paid the rent, decorated (with the help of my friends), furnished and bought branded stock to sell. I was about to open my own, in my own shop!
Over the next 6 years of business, I learned some of lives and businesses hardest lessons. I learned about tax and most importantly import tax. I learned about business rent and rates. I learned how to acquire employees and build teams. However, nothing prepared me for launching my own clothing business as much as doing it, trial and error. The company has gone from being bootstrapped by my own personal finances, to now having a multi-million turnover.
