Recognition is a journey through a series of South African short stories. This is not an easy read in the sense that many of the stories challenge preconceived notions of what it means to be a South African with all that the heritage brings. I recommend reading the introduction at the beginning and again at the end of the read as David Medalie's insights on the different stories can only truly be appreciated once you have read them yourself. There is disturbing content, as some of the stories include sexual abuses, violent deaths etc. so please do not read if you find this kind of content too disturbing.
I beautifully compiled anthology! Some stories were quite graphic and hard to read and would definitely advice sensitive readers to approach with caution. It will challenge the way the think about South Africa and the world in general.
