I was once fearless and adventurous, but a few years ago my world irreparably changed in an instant. Outside I appear composed, but inside I’m screaming. I want my life back and returning to the origin of my pain is the only way I know how.
I wasn’t prepared for New York lawyer Jude Rochester and his kind eyes. His judgmental-free soul and boyishly handsome looks are a dangerous combination for my heart. He’s only a visitor to Willowhaven, but it’s hard to keep our fling from developing into more.
Soon I question if I’ve found my forever, but Jude brings a whole new level of complicated, and when a shocking discovery unfolds, my messy life becomes messier. Distance might not be the only thing threatening our future.
Mindy is the youngest of six children and grew up in San Diego, California. After graduating from Brigham Young University-Idaho, she discovered her passion for reading and writing. Mindy lives in Summerville, South Carolina with her husband and daughter.
She is the author of the Faylinn novels and the Willowhaven series; as well as the standalones, Stain and The Day That Saved Us. Mindy is also the co-author of the Paper Planes series and the Backroads Duet, which was co-written with Michele G. Miller as Mindy Michele.
I absolutely LOVED this book! The story of Savannah and Jude is everything you want in a beautiful love story. And I love that is is totally clean and appropriate for my teenage daughters.
The author did an amazing job developing the characters in such a way to make them so real. Savannah is so flawed and such a beautiful soul. You ache for her and cheer for her. You get frustrated and just want her to let go and when she does, it is spectacular! I think this is my favorite Mindy Hayes book yet!
All the heart eyes for this little gem 😍😍😍😍 Loved the characters and the emotion of this story. Mindy never disappoints. Pick this one up, you won’t regret it!
First, let me say that I have read all of Mindy Hayes’ books. I love her stories and her writing style. I liked her other Willowhaven books and was looking forward to this one being just as good. I was not disappointed. In fact, for me, this was the best one. After an unfortunate accident, Savannah is having a hard time with her emotions and her quirky brain. Jude recognizes how special she is and wants nothing more than to love her, quirks and all, even if she doesn’t feel she deserves to be loved. What makes this book so good is the way Mindy has written the character Savannah. She is complicated yet easy to love. Her emotions are so real and I have no doubt every reader will find some of Savannah in themselves. READ THIS BOOK! You will be happy you did.
Loved this book! I shed so many tear for Savannah throughout the whole story because it really hit home for me. So many feels came along with this book it took me a while to get through but I was glad I did. Mindy couldn't have done any better with this one. 5 beautiful stars from me!
Oh Mindy Hayes.... you've done it again. This book (sigh), this book. This review isn't even about the actual story, it's about your writing. I know you were going through a trying time in your life when you wrote this, and, oh, how it shows in the best way possible. I felt the same way with Me After You (and I think that was written during another trying point). Me Without You was great as well, but these two, wow. Your writing is incredible. The emotions you pull out with just words is a true talent. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your words.
Beautiful story. I love the touch on mental illness, and grief, and loving unconditionally. I love Jude and Savannah. Just don’t read this while waiting in the dentist office because you are bound to shed some tears.
