There are many factors that decide whether or not a novel makes it to get another volume.(or 2). Amount of sales, reviews, and publisher words all have factors.. Concerningly enough. Now the last 2 novels were a mixed bag when it came to reader reviews and despite the author's absolutely horrid writing skills from the presumed masse of drugs he's been smoking (and the DR staff team's oblivion to absolutely everything) all his flaming piles of crap on paper were somehow accepted, read, and officially published.. Let that sink in. "Oh yeah, anyone can be a writer" my ass. Light Novel publishing's criteria is low for a reason, to but author somehow took that as a challenge to write the most absurd shit possible all while either unironically sober or jacked tits up.
Moving on now, let's get right into the contents. Now the funny thing is, barely anything's changed. The characters, flow, sentence structure, overall descriptions and shit dialog and craziness remains the same, whittling away at the reader's IQ with every page turn of the 3rd published dumpster fire. As for plot, author barely bothered to make any changes whatsoever, continuing the mash of absurd events as the tradition of confusion and cringe continues. Is there plot? I wish. I'm not going to bother further:
- The story introduces "Tentacle Soldiers", and barely any info is presented whatsoever, other characters appear as well and are never explained or elaborated further - The first few chapters start off with a random series of events that I literally don't care to recap, ends up with the MC losing her copy of a written work. She then goes to the mountains in which she meets a character called "K", having lost her AR eyepiece. - Turns out the AR eyepiece as well as the narrator has been censoring, modifying and altering shit throughout the course of the story which essentially renders the entire narrative unreliable.
As a result it's unclear as to how much the novel has taken place as described and also alleviates many of the story's blatant contradictions to canon. The events are still never corroborated anywhere else other than vol1 making a reference to a story Byakuya tells during his FTE's so even if you sort out the shit that actually happened it's still unclear if this is canon at all in the first place.
Ok. So basically from what I can get I could conclude that either author A) Did a V3 in novel format because fuck the readers, B) Stopped giving a shit about halfway through, or C) Doubled up on that 420.
In conclusion, thank fucking god this pile of hot garbage is over. Cancer and lost braincells is 3 volumes too long of voluntarily suffering through whatever the hell this is. If I ever find a copy of this shit I'll definitely make sure to pour gasoline and burn all 3 copies. Please save your IQ and cash, there are better pieces of light novel out there, despite their shit quality overall.
Yes, these books are weird and have convoluted plots, but beauty is also in the eye of the beholder. This one is easily the best of the three and there's plenty to analyze in terms of characters and how they interact. Shinobu Togami will always go down as a favourite in my mind, and we wouldn't have her without these really weird novels.
