Written by an anthropologist, this classic work on southwestern silver work has much better information on the cultural contexts and histories than most. There are newer books with more recent information (this was originally published in 1944, based on fieldwork done in 1938), but this remains one of if not the best starting point.

Great history with detailed descriptions of silvermaking process and some nice photographs.
