Easter is a very important Christian holiday that is celebrated each year in the spring. It celebrates Christ rising from the dead. Readers will learn that Christians celebrate this day with church services, Easter egg hunts, and more. Complete with simple text and colorful photographs. Aligned to Common Core Standards and correlated to state standards. Abdo Kids Junior is an imprint of Abdo Kids, a division of ABDO.
I really liked this book a lot. It tells the facts about Easter as a Christian holiday without any prejudice or censorship. The origins of secular Easter traditions are told as well. It also mentions Easter celebrations around the world and how they differ from American traditions. It has all the text features that we want students to recognize in a nonfiction selection. It would be a good addition to any library needing more holiday books.
This colorful little book, Easter is a very simple, basic book about spring and the Easter holiday. There is no great detail nor any story, just simple definitive sentences. Easter is listed as appropriate for grades 1-2. I disagree. It is far too simplistic for that age group and would be far better suited to 2 & 3 year old children. They would love the bright pictures and the real photos of real children with real names.
