I found Jenkins’ 90-Day Play uniquely stimulating. Using open-ended questions, she deftly stands aside to give the reader full ownership of the creative process. Her first preparatory exercises expanded my perspective, rooted me in an arena of writer/character/audience interactions, and made me want to reach for lofty standards.

Commitment to a 90-day schedule provides an essential momentum, but more important is the way the work is paced to allow for a deep, thoughtful exploration of our dramatic options before beginning the actual play. It’s extremely reassuring to have in Linda Jenkins a personal mentor who not only knows the vast and varied terrain of drama but also understands how to guide us past the doubts and concerns that can plague a writer. In fact, writers will find the guidance applicable across diverse genres. The 90-Day Play is not just a good read and a good guide. It’s a good experience.
