I've always enjoyed stories of time travel and given the chance I would definitely give it a whirl. So when I saw this book, I immediately knew I wanted to read it and see how this new author explored time travel.

I will admit that during the first 100 pages or so, I had absolutely no idea what was going on and then something clicked and .... I still had no idea what was going on. Though this did absolutely nothing to hinder my enjoyment of this novel. The characters were exciting (I particularly liked Selena, Eli, Spencer and Flora), learning the different factions (and who was connected with which one) was fascinating and even the science behind time travel itself was interesting even if I couldn't understand some of it. That's my fault since I don't have a scientific mind and am not a huge fan of straight science fiction (of which this book is not). There was plenty of mystery (who was for real or not), romance (and sex), surprises and red herrings.

I read this book in six hours. This book was unputdownable. I simply had to know how all these characters connected and what happened to Eli and Evan. All in all, a wonderful start to the Origin Phase series. I look forward to continuing the time traveling adventure in the next installment.

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well written with some intriguing twists.

Compellingly convoluted, with intricate interweaving of characters and plot, past and present.

Definitely one of the more unusual time travel stories I've had the pleasure of reading and I found it quite impossible to put it down until I turned the final page.

Book 2 of this series, The Robot Academy, with a mostly new cast of similarly well developed characters is equally as good.

An author who is now most definitively on my radar.

About:
I do judge a book by its cover and the cover was beautiful especially the eyes- they say volumes.!!
Secret societies, love, betrayals, manipulations, revelations, and deception.. all awesomely weaved with the characters and plot, past and present.

Definitely, one of the more unusual time travel stories I have had the pleasure of reading and I found it quite impossible to put it down until I turned the final page. This was my first try with an amnesiac theme in time travel and I loved it. The storyline was interesting and the characters were all connected so well. The POVs are awesome.

I enjoyed reading this story and I wish Lipkin all the very best for her future authorship works.

My rating is

Review: ORIGIN PHASE

A near-future science fiction thriller involving (illegal) common time travel, ORIGIN PHASE is also a subtle meditation on the nature of time and the nature of consciousness, with blends of magical realism. If you've ever experienced the perception that you're "out of place," you "don't belong," you're "not like others," or that you're an alien, you're going to love this book. That's exactly how protagonists Eli and Selena feel. The pace moves so fast, it's like you're on a conveyor belt of the Universe.

ORIGIN PHASE is the first in a science fiction trilogy.
