The book should be used primarily as a reference work. The author is very much an Anglophile in the realm if heraldry. Any use or practice that deviates from the English practice is seen as perversion. To include other practices in Europe. His arguments are pedantic and often self-refuting. As a collection of use in early America and of the language of heraldry is useful.
